Blue Tulips  68"x80"

 After completing the two patterns (Le Jardin d’Amelie and Amelie’s Table Runner),  I knew I had to make another design with my favourite colour – blue.

So I came up with the design for Blue Tulips. I have always loved tulips and I like the combination of stars and tulips in the quilt.

It is basically a two block design that repeats the blocks to provide interest.

The quilt has a total of 32 blocks on point – 20 stars and 12 blue tulips. The blue tulip block has both stitchery and appliqué.  I love the challenge of using both techniques and I think it adds something unique to the quilt.

The taupe and the navy provide a visual contrast and this effect could be achieved with many other colour combinations.

You could change the border if you wish and just add a variety of different colour borders or have fun making the Seminole pieced border.
